Microsoft
Windows CE.Net provides an advanced real-time operating
system (RTOS). Through the Platform Builder, you can
choose standard components to install and develop your
application in Microsoft eMbedded Visual C++. Windows
CE.Net allows you to build systems ranging from headless
(without a display or keyboard/mouse) to a full featured
graphical user interface with touchscreen capabilities.
Platform Builder contains all of the features developers
need to build, debug and deploy custom Windows CE.Net
devices.
When developing for Windows CE.Net, Microsoft Visual
Studio .Net and Microsoft eMbedded Visual C++ can be
used for rapid application design. Other development
environments may be used with the Microsoft .NET Compact
Framework (the subset of .NET supported by Windows
CE.Net).
Micro/sys provides select Pentium and 486-based embedded
PCs preconfigured with an evaluation Windows CE.Net
image installed. The Micro/sys Windows CE.Net package
includes drivers for hardware that is not natively
supported by Microsoft. The package also includes example
applications and instructions which will ease the creation
of a customized production image.
